Hult Prize - Class of 2020


Social entrepreneur Shirley Chan is the CEO of Afri-SunCore and Happy Lettuce, co-founder and president of the European Law Students' Association (ELSA) Durham University.

Woman of Stature 2019 Awards nominee

Afri-SunCore specialises in the exporting and importing of fresh produce, bridging the gap between Asian and African markets in growing economies and providing products (including citrus, grapes, nuts, coffee beans and tea) for our people on both continents.

At the age of 24, she was nominated in the category of 'Woman in Agriculture' for the Woman of Stature Awards 2019.

Shirley co-founded the ELSA Durham and serves as president for 2019 / 2020. The 2nd year law student and former representative of Durham European Law Institute is also co-president of TEDx, founder and campus director of Hult Prize at Durham University.

Happy Lettuce, representing Durham University, has advanced into the Global Accelerator programme for the 2020 Hult Prize, an annual US$ 1 million in seed capital business challenge for social enterprise startups.

Happy Lettuce 10km Impact Relay 2020 Challenge

Happy Lettuce are celebrating 10 years of Hult Prize impact by curating a challenge aimed at giving back to your community and encouraging a semi-active lifestyle.

Thank you to Happy Lettuce for generously donating 1,000 surgical face masks to help Thembelenkosini Care Givers NPO uplift children in Senaoane community of Soweto.
