More than just a TV presenter


Chanley Wong is a television presenter, MC, actress, content creator, influencer and former pageant winner from the small town of Benoni in Ekurhuleni. The 28-year-old refers to herself as a “mix- masala” as she is mixed race and speaks both English and Afrikaans. Her television journey started in 2013 as a presenter on eTV's shows Sisterhood, Frenzy and Crazy World Live, after a nationwide audition process.

The former St Dunstan’s College learner completed a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications degree at the University of Johannesburg during her first year on television.

22-year-old Chanley was crowned Miss Benoni 2014. Her sister, Leanne Wong, was Miss Benoni in 2000. She also won a "Best Youth Role Model Award" from the South African Flower Union in 2014, an award voted for by the East Rand.

Chanley was nominated for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) under the “Best Television Presenter” category for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017. At 23, she is the youngest individual to ever be nominated, where she competed against the best veterans in the television industry.

One of Chanley's many highlights was travelling to Los Angeles in 2018 for the film "Midnight Sun", where she interviewed Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Rob Riggle.

Multi-talented

Chanley made her acting debut in 2018 on the eTV soapie "Scandal", with the role of Ms Jasmine Gee.

She has featured in many television commercials for brands in Asia (Virgin Active and Mr Muscle) and South Africa (Samsung, Playboy deodorant, Scottish Leader and Ingrams).

Chanley has MC'd many events for Converse, Nike, Jordan, Garnier, Hairstylist of the Year, Mrs South Africa, Barbie, Ster-Kinekor and Empire Entertainment to name a few.

Her influencer work for brands include Estee Lauder, Mr Price x Scarlet Hill, Converse, Jeep Apparel, Fanta, Cadbury, M&M's, Claire's, Milky Lane, Suzuki, Nissan, MTN, Virgin Active, Daniel Wellington, Ola and more.

Chanley is currently part of the 947 crew, where she keeps Johannesburg connected via the 947 social media pages, website and on air crossings to the studio.

She also has a YouTube channel and blog, portals for her to express her love for fashion, food, make-up, beauty and everything in between, providing an inside look into her life "off camera".

Raising funds for at risk children

HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco has invited Chanley to be one of her celebrity ambassadors in South Africa to help raise Covid-19 awareness about the #StrongerTogether campaign started by herself and HSH Prince Albert II.

Both Chanley and Princess Charlene are from Benoni and are hoping to raise funds for both Chanley's chosen charity, The Greater Benoni Child Welfare - Colin House, and the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation.

Chanley recently visited the child and youth centre and distributed face masks, hand sanitizers, clothing and muffins.
