NSC Matric (2018) - 7 Distinctions


Congratulations to Caleb Loyson, a former Prefect at Grey High School in Port Elizabeth, for achieving 7 subject A’s, including:

  • Physical Sciences: 98%;

  • Mathematics: 96%;

  • Information Technology: 96%;

  • Life Sciences: 93%;

  • Life Orientation: 91%;

  • Advanced Programme Mathematics: 87%;

  • Afrikaans (First Additional Language): 85%; and

  • English (Home Language): 79%,

during the 2018 final NSC matric examinations.

Best in Computer Programming in Eastern Cape



Well done to Caleb Loyson, from Grey High School, on coming first and receiving a Provincial Certificate in the Eastern Cape in the 2nd Round of the 'Computer Programming Olympiad'. The 1st round consisted of 7,905 learners and the 2nd round 701 learners.

SciFest Africa Quiz (2018) Champions



Our community is very proud of Caleb Loyson and his Grey High School teammates for winning the Senior Finals of the ‘Rhodes University High School Quiz’ at the 22nd annual ‘Scifest Africa’, (SA’s National Science Festival), held from 7th to 13th March 2018, in Grahamstown (Eastern Cape). Each winner received a 1-year scholarship to study Science at Rhodes University, Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi-top. Well done also to Pretoria Chinese School for finishing second, beating Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) and Stanford Lake College, in the same competition.

Saving lives by donating blood

Congratulations to Caleb Loyson and Grey High School for winning the ‘South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Peer Promotions Floating Trophy’ for the best performing school in the Nelson Mandela Metro for the second consecutive year. Caleb and Ayathandwa Vikwa are the learners-in-charge of Grey’s Blood Peer Promoters and accepted the trophy on the school’s behalf.

Excelling in Mathematics


Grey High School’s mathematicians come second in SA in the 'Maths Olympiad' Team Category and won a certificate as the 'Best performing School in Eastern Cape'. Well done to Caleb Loyson!
